Getting there

Hotel Zarin Palace is in central Madyan, within a kilometre of the centre. The nearest airport is Chitral Airport, about 106 km away in a straight line.

In the mountains, travel time depends far more on the road than on the distance: landslides, snow and roadworks can close passes and slow the drive, so check road conditions before setting out.

Hotel Zarin Palace is a beautiful hotel located in the heart of Lahore, Pakistan. The hotel is known for its elegant decor, world-class amenities, and exceptional service. I recently stayed at the hotel and was thoroughly impressed by my experience. The hotel offers a wide range of rooms and suites, each of which is beautifully appointed and designed to provide maximum comfort and relaxation. My room was spacious and well-equipped, with a comfortable bed, a large flat-screen TV, and a beautiful view of the city. One of the highlights of my stay was the food. The hotel has several restaurants and cafes, each of which offers a unique dining experience. I particularly enjoyed the rooftop…

Location is convenient and ideally located. Views from the hotel is simply terrific. There are 4 different options for stay (Economy , Moderate, Luxury Rooms and Master Suits ). Service and environment was excellent. I liked the one on third floor. Staff is friendly. Israr Ahmed Khan GM from office provided superb service. All in all a great experience. We would love to visit again soon. Highly recommended. It’s by far the best choice to stay in Madyan , Swat Valley.

Our rooms were very dirty. The building is pretty but the rooms need help. The bedsheets had nasty stains, the bathroom was filthy and had hairs. Internet sucked, and no TV .

About Madyan & Bahrain

Stays in Madyan & Bahrain are mostly hotels, with guest houses, resorts and serviced apartments as well.

Madyan sits in the Swat Valley of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, on the road that runs north through Bahrain towards the upper valley. Travellers usually stay in the main bazaar area or in small settlements along the river just outside town, using Madyan as a base for the surrounding hills and the route onwards. The listings here cover Madyan and nearby Bahrain, and are mostly small hotels, with some guest houses, a serviced apartment and a few resorts and lodges. For planning, note that the nearest airport is Chitral Airport, about 107 km away in a straight line, so most visitors arrive by road from the south, and mountain roads can close in winter.

Getting to Madyan

Chitral Airport is the nearest airport to Madyan, about 107 km from the centre in a straight line. Arrivals usually continue by road, since the drive follows the valley rather than any direct line, and the main road through Swat links the towns from Mingora northwards towards Kalam, with Madyan on that route.

Road conditions in the valley depend on the season. In winter, snow may block the last stretch of road higher up, so journeys are usually planned with some flexibility. Malam Jabba, east of Mingora, has a ski slope in winter and walking in summer, and the road to it is a separate outing from the valley road.

Around Madyan

Madyan is a small town on the Swat River north of Mingora, with trout streams and views up the valley. Swat itself is a broad river valley in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, a landscape of rivers and terraced fields with towns strung along the main road. The upper valley is greener and cooler, with pine forest on the slopes, and north of Mingora the river and side valleys offer walks and views.

Around Madyan, the valley's main town is Mingora, the commercial centre, busy with traffic and bazaars and the transport hub with the road north to Kalam. Mingora sits at roughly 980 m. Further up the valley, Kalam stands in the upper Swat Valley at about 2,000 m, surrounded by forest and the starting point for walks and jeep tracks. Malam Jabba sits on a ridge above the Swat valley at about 2,600 m, higher and cooler, with a ski slope in winter and walking in summer. Swat district lies in the north of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and the area was also a princely state before it merged with Pakistan.

Madyan through the year

The best months for a visit are April, May and October. March, June, September and November are also good, while January, February, July, August and December are possible months, with the weather and road conditions varying through the year. In winter, snow may block the last stretch of road higher in the valley.

Spring and autumn sit in the best and good months, and summer months fall among the possible ones. Malam Jabba, east of Mingora, has a ski slope in winter and walking in summer, so the upper valley has a different character in the colder months.
