I recently stayed at PC Malam Jabba with my family, and it was truly an unforgettable experience. From the moment we arrived, the hospitality and professionalism of the staff specially Urooj on reception made us feel at home Every single person we interacted with was welcoming, polite, and genuinely caring, ensuring our stay was comfortable in every way. The facilities are top-notch from beautifully maintained rooms to world-class amenities, everything reflects attention to detail and a commitment to excellence. And then there are the views absolutely breathtaking. Waking up to the sight of snow-capped mountains and fresh, crisp mountain air is an experience in itself. What makes PC…

The best hotel in Malam Jabba. The rooms are nice A pleasant surprise to find such luxury in a landmark in hospitality — nothing like this exists here. Unlike typical luxury hotels that overshadow nature, this one blends perfectly with it. The breakfast buffet actually beats most 5-star hotels — everything fresh and homemade. We travelled with kids and found the place very secure and kid-friendly. Highly recommended!

Getting to Malam Jabba

Bacha Khan International Airport in Peshawar is the nearest airport to Malam Jabba, about 132 km from the centre in a straight line. Arrivals usually continue by road, and the road line that matters most is the one through Swat: Mingora, the main town of the valley, is about 50 km from Malam Jabba by road, so the drive in from Peshawar passes through Mingora before climbing to the ridge.

The final stretch climbs from the valley floor to about 2,600 m, and in winter snow settles on the upper runs, so conditions on the approach can change with the weather. It is worth checking the road state before setting out, particularly in the colder months, and allowing for slower going where snow is lying.

Around Malam Jabba

Malam Jabba sits on a ridge above the Swat valley in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, at about 2,600 m. The ski slope runs down open ground between stands of deodar and pine. In winter, when snow lies, the slope is used for skiing and snowboarding; in summer the same ground becomes a walking and picnic area with cool air and long views. Views from the upper ridge take in the Swat river valley and the hills beyond.

Around Malam Jabba the forest is quiet away from the main slope, and tracks lead off the ridge road into the trees. A day here can be shaped simply: walk the ski slope in the morning, follow one of the forest tracks in the afternoon, and watch the light change over the valley towards evening. In summer the forest closes in on both sides of the slope and the valley opens below.

The wider setting is Swat, a broad river valley in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with Mingora as its main town and the upper valley climbing towards Kalam. Mingora, the main town of Swat, is about 50 km away by road, which makes it the practical base for supplies and for the onward journey up the valley.

Malam Jabba through the year

June, July and August are the best months in Malam Jabba, when the slope turns into a walking and picnic area with cool air and long views. January, February, May, September, October and December are good months, and in winter, when snow lies, the slope is used for skiing and snowboarding. March, April and November are possible months, sitting between the seasons.

In winter snow settles on the upper runs, and in winter, if snow is lying, a day is enough for a first try on the slope. Travellers should plan around the weather rather than promise themselves a fixed programme, since snow changes what the upper ground offers.
