Had a great few days at Old Hunza Inn with the beautiful view over the mountainside. Liaqat was a very knowledgeable and helpful host who treated me like a member of the family inviting me to join a celebration one night, and we loved our day trips with Ali who was always smiling and answered all of our questions. Note that the cheapest rooms available on HostelWorld are quite basic and do not have the mountain view, but the common area is well decorated and the views from here and from the roof are spectacular. For more money you can get a room on the terrace which shares that lovely view.

Getting there
Old Hunza inn is in central Karimabad, within a kilometre of the centre. The nearest airport is Gilgit Airport, about 54 km away in a straight line.
In the mountains, travel time depends far more on the road than on the distance: landslides, snow and roadworks can close passes and slow the drive, so check road conditions before setting out. Flights to Gilgit and Skardu are short and scenic but weather-dependent and are often delayed or cancelled; keep a spare day in the plan.
The nearest other stays in this guide are Hilltop Hotel Hunza (same map pin), Tourist Cottage Hunza (same map pin) and Interstellar by Old Hunza Inn (same map pin). In a valley, neighbouring stays can be a short walk or a steep drive apart; check the access road.

Had the most amazing experience here. The owner was especially very welcoming and helpful. We stayed there for 4 days and didn’t face a single issue. The view of the lounge is exceptional, the whole valley can be seen. Definitely gonna be back here whenever I visit Hunza
A great place to kick back after a day on the bicycle. Although the push up the hill was a killer. Received a warm welcome and a tour of the rooms. Views are fantastic. Dinner was very filling and tasty. Good Wi-Fi in the lounge. Thanks

Around Hunza
Hunza is a mountain valley in Gilgit-Baltistan, a long stretch of apricot orchards and old forts beneath Rakaposhi, 7,788 m, on the Karakoram Highway. The nearest main place, Hunza itself, sits at about 2,438 m. Karimabad, the old capital, is the main base, set on terraces above the Hunza River, with bazaars, orchards and Baltit Fort at the top of the village. Altit Fort stands on the older settlement below, with a small museum and traditional houses nearby. Shops and small hotels line the main bazaar.
Around Hunza, side roads and tracks climb to villages on the terraces above the river, where apricot, cherry and apple trees grow around stone houses. Rakaposhi rises across the river and is visible from many terraces. Attabad Lake, formed by a landslide in 2010 and now crossed by a road, lies on the highway towards Passu. Passu is a small village on the Karakoram Highway in upper Hunza, set below the Passu Glacier and the peaks that feed it. Gilgit, a busy town of around 200,000 people spread across the floor of a dry valley, lies on the road approach to the valley.
Hunza through the year

June to September is a good stretch, while March and November are possible. Winter is quiet and very cold, with snow on the upper slopes, and many guest houses close from December to February, so January, February and December fall outside the usual season.
